What designer & vertical radiators are

Designer radiators put looks first — tall verticals, flat panels, mirrored and sculptural designs in premium finishes. Vertical models are the most popular because they deliver the heat you need on a narrow strip of wall, freeing up space.

Vertical radiators & saving space

A vertical radiator is ideal where wall space is tight — hallways, kitchens, narrow rooms and between windows. You get the required output in a tall, slim footprint instead of a long low one, opening the room up for furniture.

Output vs looks — the trade-off

Some slim designer models prioritise style over heat, so always check the BTU/watt output against your room’s needs — a beautiful radiator that under-heats is a false economy. Flat-panel designs often output less than a finned equivalent of the same size.

Cost

Designer radiators are a premium buy: typically £150–£600+, more for large statement or mirrored pieces. You’re paying for finish and form as much as output.

Best places

On-show walls, open-plan spaces, hallways, kitchens and bathrooms where the radiator is part of the décor and wall space is at a premium.

Choosing one

Confirm the output meets your calculated BTU at your flow temperature, check the fixings and valve position (many verticals need a specific valve set), and pick a finish that suits the room.
